Additional Resources for the Best in Theaters

As of September 28, redemptive and family movies in theaters at the top of the box office include War Room, Captive, Inside Out, Ant-Man, and Shaun the Sheep. These are among the best picks for movies in theaters for the first week of October. However, audiences should be cautious of many of the other PG, PG-13, and R movies now in theaters. It is imperative for individuals and especially for families to check reputable reviews by knowledgeable, experienced professionals before viewing any movie.

The future is promising, with many redemptive and family movies headed to theaters. One of the most delightful and informative ways to learn about upcoming movie projects is to follow the amazing behind-the-scenes stories on their Facebook pages. For example, on the page for Woodlawn, executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett share in video streaming their tear-jerking enthusiasm for this movie, in theaters October 16. Woodlawn is based on the phenomenal true story of how love and unity overcame racism and hate. In 1973, an amazing spiritual awakening in the Woodlawn High School football team profoundly affected almost every football player and its coach Tandy Gerelds. The cast includes notable actors such as Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) and Jon Voight (National Treasure).

Many extra resources provide such additional enrichment and wonderful behind-the-scenes stories for redemptive movies, including podcasts, books, and blogs.  War Room (a movie about the power of prayer) has many educational and inspirational resources of individuals, churches and families. Likewise, Captive (based on the true story of the redemption of a killer and a drug addict) has many additional educational, family, and community resources. 90 Minutes in Heaven (about a pastor’s after-death recovery) answers many questions about Heaven in its related books.

Sonoma Christian Home.com provides excellent reviews, news stories, videos and more for individuals and families seeking the best choices in redemptive and family movies and television. It also features interviews with leading producers, directors, and actors for such family programming, as well as trailers and beautiful, inspirational graphics.

The top picks for movies in theaters for the first week of October for adults and teens are Captive, 90 Minutes in Heaven, War Room, and Beyond the Farthest Star (on demand). For the whole family, Inside Out and Shaun the Sheep are the top picks. The Renaissance of Artistry and Reformation of Content continues as consumers support the ongoing good work of producers of excellent redemptive, worthwhile, family programming for television, DVDs, streaming, and for theaters.
